Hey there, welcome to Pilots Who Ask Why!

Flying in the real world rarely looks like the textbooks (if only!).

Most of us were trained to follow procedures, manage threats, and stay within limits. But the thing that actually shapes us is the human element of aviation.

The decisions that felt fine at the time (or didn’t), or those flights you only start thinking about later while making a coffee or driving home.

At Pilots Who Ask Why, we capture and treasure those moments!

At the heart of PWAW is Notes from the Cockpit: Personal reflections, lessons from accidents, real stories from pilots across the globe, and the occasional technical topic, all written without any fluff or corporate language.

We write about judgement calls, assumptions, near-misses, accidents, and the uncomfortable realisation that confidence and complacency can sometimes look identical… especially in the mirror!

In our Why Spotlights we look at aviation accidents, not for the headlines or the drama, but for the human decisions inside them, and to learn the hidden lessons from them.

We like asking better questions, because better judgement usually doesn’t comes from certainty.

No jargon, no ego, and definitely no death-by-PowerPoint ✅

Our goal? To make aviation safer, clearer, and just a bit more human. We publish new Notes From the Cockpit every other Sunday (twice per month)!

If you have any questions or topics that you think deserve more attention, feel free to reach out to us, you know where to find us ⤵️
